kunstraum muenchen was founded in 1973 as a non-profit art club for the exhibition und documentation of contemporary art. It arose from the club »Freunde der bildenden Kunst« which was founded in 1926. Today the club counts appr. 300 members. The content conception and organisational realisation of the program is done by the honorary management, supported by free staff.
