Three different districts are combined into one here in the ninth municipal district of Munich. Residents of Nymphenburg and Gern, with their beautiful old mansions and patrician houses, have always looked down upon the people of Neuhausen somewhat disapprovingly.
Munich’s heart beats at Marienplatz. It is the central meeting point of tourists, an important subway junction, political forum, an arena for open-air performers, site of wild carnival parties and the Christkindlmarkt (Christmas market).
Those who move to Haidhausen do this knowingly and not because a flat just happened to pop up there. The district is sought after, the residents live together in a balanced multicultural mix and there is a considerable number of pubs. It hasn´t gathered all these names for nothing: second Schwabing, Broken Glass District and French Quarter...

What's the link between football World Cup '74 winner Georg "Katsche" Schwarzenbeck and comedian Karl Valentin? Well, quite simply, the same home: the Au is a district right on the Isar River and really close to the city centre.
Love at first sight has been going on here for twenty years. Back then, you needed a bit more persuasiveness and some pioneering spirit to move to the Glockenbachviertel with your family. It´s located centrally with affordable old-building flats, and no snobs. Those were the arguments then. These days, there is no question that the district is "in".

When you think of Bogenhausen, the mind conjures up images of Flick and Thyssen as well as Boris Becker, wealth and splendour, That´s actually far from it, even if Mauerkircher Straße is full of mansions and an abundance of prominent, rich people live or have lived in Bogenhausen. This district is shared by plenty of different people.

By name, Ludwigsvorstadt is quite an unknown district, although the focal point of the Bavaria statue and the Theresienwiese meadow below it are two of the most popular places in Munich.

Beginning on the Schwanthaler Höhe and above the Theresienwiese, Munich’s Westend isn’t far from the centre. The Westend, former home of the Munich trade fair, was vigorously redeveloped after the fair was relocated.
Giesing or "Giasing", as Munich people call this district east of the Isar river, is divided in Obergiesing ("Upper") and Untergiesing ("Lower").
Thinking of Harlaching brings up images of mansions with park properties, idyllicly located between Hochleite and Geiselgasteig. Once planned as a garden town the neighborhood is one of the best in Munich.

Solln has remained a mere residential area where newcomers have a good time adapting and where everybody says hello. In Pullach one can live anonymously, there are more nightlife options and you are a bit closer to the mountains and lakes.
When it comes to money, Grünwald gets discrete – no names, not even at the gate entrance. Allegedly the monthly buying power of the average Grünwalder equals the average annual income of a Munich citizen.
