The menacing name "Panzerwiese" (tank meadows), of a former drill ground of the armee (Bundeswehr), has nothing to do with the real image of an untreated heathland, where sheep still provide the mowing.

The largest green space of the east are the Ostpark and the Landschaftspark in Riem which was designed in 2005 for the Bundesgartenschau (Federal GardenShow). Both complexes are great for any kind of leisure acitivities.

From Frederics Serviced Apartments in Nymphenburg-Gern it's just a stone's throw along the Schlosskanal to this impressive Munich park, the Schlosspark Nymphenburg with its baroque gardens. The canal between the südliche and the nördliche Auffahrtsallee was planned in 1728 and is partly seamed by pretty mansions and houses of the Wilhelminian era.
