Pugs are the most decadent of all dogs, says the Westphalian born who has opened her studio two years ago in Schwabing. It is pampered verhätschelt and therefore fits best as a bag motive. "It's a mix of decadence and cattiness", raves Kiki Haupt.
She manufactures all bags in her own studio. Every piece is a handmade single copy. No bag equals antother, yet Kiki Haupt's style is distinctive: kitschy and elegant, girlish and ladylike. The designer puts the focus on exklusivity - a commitment to pug-motives or elf-emblems starts at 500 Euro.
Before having succeeded with her bags the learnt tailor designed evening dresses and Prêt-à-porter fashion. At some point she found out that there was no bag of her individual taste yet. For Kiki Haupt the signal: "The I just assembled them myself." Meanwhile the fanciful companions have become favorite pieces.
"I was very lucky with my idea", confesses the designer and feels blessed "that there are many women who like what I do." So what's next? "Maybe there are other things to make desirable objects of", says Kiki Haupt. As a first step she has extended her fashion line: apart from hand bags, traveling bags, purses, corsages and shoes she is thinking of pants with typical Kiki-motives.
Her creations are available in selected shops in Germany's major cities as well as in her showroom on Herzogstraße 89 in München ( "www.kikihaupt.de").
