High above the rooftops of Munich, the new Blue Spa is like the peaceful summit of the Hotel Bayerischer Hof. Innegrit Volkhardt, Managing Partner, and award-winning architect Andrée Putman have created a true spa oasis comprising 1200 square metres over three levels set within unique landscaped gardens.
Only a few months after the inauguration in May 2005 the Blue Spa was recommended by the Diner´s Club Magazine. Continuing successfully it just recently also received the Leading Spa Certification.
Only top quality materials were used to create the Blue Spa. Andrée Putman’s trademark clear styling can be seen down to the finest detail in this seven million euro redevelopment project. An icon in the design world, Andrée Putman has succeeded in producing a concept for the Blue Spa that perfectly blends an elegant and timeless style into the traditional appearance of the hotel.

The phrase “sanus per aquam” – health through water – was coined by the Romans. Its abbreviation – spa – to this day stands for the gentle regeneration of body and spirit, which is the exact purpose the Blue Spa was created for.
In good weather guests can swim under the open sky – thanks to a glass roof that opens and closes in a matter of seconds. If additional exercise is required, the gym also provides a wonderful view overlooking Munich’s Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady). The former Mr Universe, Ralf Möller, is a regular guest at the hotel and responsible for selecting the state-of-the-art gym equipment.
Based on a professional health and fitness assessment, an individual training programme will be prepared – if desired with a personal trainer. Yoga and Pilates sessions are additionally offered. Of course all this activity is not compulsory. One alternative is to relax in the Wintergarten with its open fireplace, or out on the lushly verdant sun terrace.
Heiko Wenzig is in charge of overall management of the Blue Spa. An internationally experienced spa manager and therapist, he was most recently a consultant at the renowned Chiva Som International Health Resort in Hua Hin, Thailand. Alongside his specially trained team, he sets store by holistic therapies that also live up to the most exacting standards.
