Being the largest town around the lake Herrsching comes up with a lake promenade of 10 km. Here you find the lido Seewinkel with a great sunbathing area next to the spa gardens.

The Eastern shore offers attractive excursions starting from Herrsching: the monastery Andechs, also known as "Holy Mounain", is the most popular destination in "Fünfseenland". A great hike leads from Herrsching through Kienbach valley (4 km). At the restaurant of Kloster Andechs or at Bräustüberl upon the hill you should definitely treat yourself with a cool draught of beer of the the in-house brewery.

North of Herrsching lies the little place Stegen. A lovely beergarden, minigolf course and the bathing area account for the charm of this lake settling. Here is also the landing stage of "Weißblauen Flotte" ("fleet in blue and white"), which leaves in the morning and in the evening. The old paddle steamer "Dießen" may ring a bell for some people. For nightowls and culture fans the "Alte Brauerei" with its ancient archs is the place to be. And for who loves it more rustic the castle "Schloss Kaltenberg"with the Knights' festival in July is well worth a visit.
