The most famous son of town is the former ski ace Markus Wasmeier. Since 2007 his farming- and wintersports museum shows a "living" old Bavarian village, which also is a home for animals. The restaurant  "Beim Wofen" pours in-house and treats with Bavarian delights.

Another culinary tip is found on Wörth island, namely the "Wirtshaus im See", which hosts motto parties and Sunday brunches.

An overnight stay is a great idea at Schliersbergalm where Curd Jürgens is said to have spent a couple of nights. On top, you can have a morning bath in the heated outdoor pool.

For a trip from Spitzingsee you take the cable car to Taubenstein or to Stümpfling.
