The Eastern shore of the lake is calmer than the Western part. From Berg to Ambach there are no motorcars permitted - a real paradise for hikers and cyclers. The King-Ludwig-cross in the lake near Berg implies the location where the king is said to have drowned. Take a sunbath at recreational area Percha-Kempfenhausen (1,5 km North of Berg) before visiting the castle "Schloss Berg".
A wonderful hike leads past mansions and boat houses from Ammerland to Ambach. Further south at the bathing area St. Heinrich there's more life with kickers and sun worshippers on the meadows. For families the magic forest ("Märchenwald") in close Wolfratshausen is certainly interesting.
The Eastern shore is also a real treat for food lovers: the elegant lido Schloss Berg lures with a great terrace while Fischmeister in Ambach provides organic meat and a landing stage for steamboats. The restaurant "Fischerrosl" in Sankt Heinrich is quite cosy, and the whitefish have been a secret for the longest time.
In kleinen Holzhäuschen werden 52 Märchenszenen gezeigt.
