The Western shore of Starnberger See is settled more densely and also unites the strategic spots. Possenhofen has become a great address with its huge park area including the sunbathing area "Paradies". South of the 360-inhabitants-village you will find the luxury hotel "Forsthaus am See" with an amazing terrace.

"The pearl of the lake", namely Feldafing, comes shortly after and fascinates with elegant ambiance. This was also highly appreciated by empress Sissi who adored the place as a summer residence for years. The ruins from back then are today's exclusive golf hotel "Kaiserin Elisabeth", which not only accepts guests of the wonderfully located golf course. For a chill-out you should check the greatly old-fashioned lido where you enjoy a great view on the tiny rose island. You mi9ght as well take a "Plette", a flat wooden boat, and indulge in romantic atmosphere.

Further south you will come across one of the oldest settlings of the lake: Tutzing. For many this name is linked to the "Evangelische Akademie", whose symposia have stirred some political discussions in the public. Culinary delights can be found at "Häring", where Munich VIP's swing by quite often. A great view on the Alps is offered at the restaurant "Wirtschaft im Nordbad" being located on a footbridge on the lake. Some other great prospects are at hand aon Ilkahöhe with its lovely beergarden of the same name.

The marina Bernried with its hotel "Marina" is a little more sophisticated. Closely situated is the Buchheim Museum which is inspiring the imagination. Bestseller author Lothar-Günther Buchheim ("Das Boot") has gathered his multi-million collection in an architectural gem. Further south at the lake's very end you will reach Seeshaupt, which offers great joy and excellent food at Lido.
