The lake's centre of tourism is the town with the same name: Tegernsee. The spa with its history of more than 1250 years is a mix of locals and people from afar. The origins of the town are marked by the Benedictine monastery (also named "castle") which today hosts the well-known „Bräustüberl“ of the Tegernseer brewery. On Rosenstraße you can gaze at typical old farmers' houses. By all means you should make a boat trip on the one of the motor boats MS Tegernsee or MS Rottach-Egern. For mountains fans Wallberg has some amazing prospects in store.
